Italy Based Series

The forms and materials reveal their contact with the artist's hand. We can see the visceral expression of the artist's intent through textures and tones burnt both from the sun and from the earth. The warm ochres and reds range across the surfaces as if forged from some ancient volcano and brought to subtle coloration by centuries of rain and wind.

The emotional response to the subject is an intuitive sensing that bypasses the mind and eye of reason. The focus is on the essence that underlies the very nature of the land itself; the variations on themes of walls, hillsides, mountains.
